Pam, Zander and Profit Coaches at the January 2025 conference.
Before it nearly cost her everything Pam was stuck at Level 2.
Five businesses, a great team and money in the bank. And every one of them relied on her.
She was working every hour there was, and the business only worked because she did. In the Profit System that's Level 2, Overworked: the level most owners get stuck at, and the one the BOSS Score is built to get you out of.
Level 5OwnerThe business runs, grows and pays you.
Level 4OverseerLeaders own their areas. You steer.
Level 3OrganisedProcesses run without you, for a while.
Level 2OverworkedIt works because you work. Everyone waits on you.Pam, 1999
Level 1OverwhelmFires every day. No time to think.

Pam, from 17
Built on hard work, and nothing else.
Pam started her first business at 17 with, in her words, unbridled enthusiasm and a hard work ethic and nothing else. Twenty years later she had five businesses, a great team and money in the bank.
On the outside it looked great. But every part of it ran on her.

New Year's Day, 2000
The day off she wouldn't take.
She caught flu and went into work anyway. Within days she was paralysed from the neck down. On day ten, her family was called in to say goodbye.
“I remember them taking me into the hospital to say goodbye.”Zander, who was ten
The next five years
She learned to walk again, then rebuilt everything.
Pam spent three years learning to walk again, reading business books for up to eight hours a day. She went back £70,000 in debt, and within five years she had rebuilt everything. She sold at 46.
What she learned was simple and expensive: being really good at what you do doesn't make you good at business.

Zander's story
He grew up inside the business.
At eight, Zander told his mum he had already spent too many years of his life in her business. The line stayed with both of them.
In his early 20s he coached Olympic athletes and their coaches, then built a personal growth brand serving more than 22,000 entrepreneurs and coaches. Everywhere he went, he met owners living his mum's story.
“Yours is not a unique story. We hear it all the time.”Zander, to Pam

Today
The coaches she wishes she'd had.
Together they turned what Pam learned into the Profit System: a score of the whole business, including the owner, and 50 playbooks in the order the score says to use them.
More than 250 Profit Coaches have now been trained in it, so other owners can fix the business before it costs them what it nearly cost Pam.
